A long journey for two similar species of tuna: the "red" one, which in fished in the Mediterranean Sea but sold in Japan; and "jellow" one, which travel - frozed - from the Pacific Sea to the markets in Sicily. A symbol of globalization and human behaviour on earth. At the end, only an orange radioactive field will last.

"The idea of art"
These structures in balance, made with object stolen (from my collegues studio) or things thrown in the garbage - metaphors of that peculiar kind of insecurity which distinguishes my generation, not just contemporary artists - were brought down under the pressure of the sound of interviews with the artists with whom I shared spaces of the residence in Sparkill, about questions that I ask myself every day. A clear homage equally to Calder's Mobile and Tinguely's tribute to NY and Rude Goldberg's Machines, for the visual as well to Glen Gould's Idea of North (Solitude trilogy) for the aural part.
"AlarmMode - (we-you)" - NES Residency This is a project whom I was thinking about also before coming here at Skagastrond - during my last journeys - as I started to understand that a lot of people around Europe think that Iceland is a "land on emergency". Probably, beside the volcano's activity, there has been also the component of economic collaps to suggest this image to the people to which I've been talking about my incoming residence here. Anyway I was sure that the perception was wrong and I choose to represent this mistake with a ironic video (I hope that i didn't fail in my attempt) in which some student, which came here from Reykjavik for studies reasons, and some local people mimic with their voices the "sound of alarm" as they imagined it could sound like. As you could see, or better, listen in this video (that I consider a sound art project like other artworks that you can find in the videotrack section) the most common idea of alarm for this people is the sound of ambulance siren, or even the clock alarm sound they listen every morning. project like the artwork you can find in the videotrack section) the most common idea of alarm for this people is the sound of ambulance siren, or further more, the clock alarm sound they listen every morning.
"OL'FASCI5/MINUTES" [old fascism in five minutes]
This is an audio work that uses the video only as support. In just five minutes with the sound can tell very briefly the story of two decades in Italy, from 1925 to 1945, and superimposing contracting seventy-two songs that are heard simultaneously, crossing the famous public speeches with many popular songs of Fascist period. 5 lambda print (30X30cm) of video frames complete the installation. [The soundtrack is an overlap of 64 original songs and historical speeches of the fascist period. contains (in)famous Mussolini's pubblic talk released by Radio Monaco] . Italy, 2010.
"Life on a phoenix sound"
Flesh-colored soundcreatures born, dance, die and then rise again on a Phoenix sound. (cornstarch and red acrylic + 50W subwoofer) sound and video by Dario Lazzaretto 2010
What is the boundary between truth and triviality? And between entarteinment, art, and mass hypnosis? What is the minimum amount of stimulation needed for a cultural self-conscious society? In the information sistem as in language of advertising, in all mass media as into everyday life, "what you see is what you get" remains an unfulfilled promise. Even in this video. This audio work is sustained by a "video-track" used as a decoy to force spectator to listen the sound. My research through sound and video perception is about society, mass-media, politics, religion. Factors I see around and affecting my life.
M.O.A.N. ::::: [electro snoring remix videoclip]
[MouthOpenedAnotherNight] I've decided to record - for almost a month - my sleeeping time, with a microphone (set to turn on only when receiving noise). Then I've put everything together and cutted out every normal breath or room noise. Some of the snore's "phrases" were longer, other shorter, each one very different from another. The result - quite scary - is a monster's breath noise, or even a funny rhythm. For sure there was enough material to evolve in an electronic remix of this sound in which my entire self is transfigurated into my inner "snoring- machine". The sound will be spread by a fake pillow (paper and glue) that will be the actual speaker resonating surface - using a transducer amplifier - and will be hung to the wall. In the meanwhile, I came out with this video:
"I'm sitting in a room 2.0"
I'm sitting in a room – 2.0” - 2010 4'55'' dvd Courtesy dell'artista “I'm sitting in a room, the room in which I live, attempting to re-create the famous Alvin Lucier experiment, in a way accessible for anyone in this age of tecnology: a pc with a webcam. I will record this video and the sound of this electronic voice, over and over, until the reverb of my room and the noise of webcam recording will change the nature of this message.” VIDEO – 4'55” - Italy This work is a clear tribute to the famous audioart piece "I am sitting in a room" (1969) by Alvin Lucier. I've tryed, 41 years later, a different experience, beginning from the same starting point: the reverberation of communication tecnologies kills their own messages. My research through sound and video perception is about society, massmedia, politics, religion. Always using low-budget and affordable tecnologies*.
VIDEO: triptych of audio/video works in which images are generated by the sound and the sound from the words, which is the "poietic motive" of the work itself. Each of these three works contains within it a complicated and bizarre evolutionary process. In "LOVE - MY MONEY, THE MINE – DIVINE, TOGHETHER - TO ETHER", the text, chosen and divided into blocks, is synthesized by a software for speech synthesis(TTS).
"Noise of silence"
Noise Of Silence * A synthetic voice that pronounced "four minutes and 33 seconds" is really stretched to last four minutes and 33 seconds. We have lost the understanding of words in favor of an annoying noise. Similarly, in the video, the letters forming the words "Four minutes and seconds thirty-three are displayed very slowly, one after another. The need to fill the gap - which often irritates the public concerts of John Cage - is so satisfied, but the sound of nothing that fills the silence is unbearable and exhausting lens images are useless, more of a forced blindness. * Mbrola technology, software TTS (Text to Speech).

"...isn't a revolution really possible?"
(Guido Bartorelli)
